    Neil,

Are you a Platinum member on Mychipcarving.com?  I am very disappointed nobody helped you out???  I am on a learning curve just like you but I do know why you are having trouble with your lettering.  I have the same problem!

    Hi Neil,
That’s a good question! The reason I hooked it to the right was simple due, in my opinion, to leaving the design “open”.   I am in the process of drawing two more similiar designs but this time try and make them a little more flowing and less busyness in the center.  I’ll show you what I mean when I complete the drawings.  Hope I made some sort of sense in answering your question.  Go ahead and give it a try if you wish 🙂  since I’ve been a wildlife artist since 1974 I want to try and incorporate chip carving with flora and fauna, as well as trying to developed my skills with all the geometric designs available.  Thank you so much for responding to my work! :-).    Mark

    Hi Ron,

Welcome!  I am pretty much in the same boat as you and your wife.  I ‘ve been a sculptor of wood, marble and limited edition bronzes since 1974.  But I never tried Chip Carving!!!  It’s quite a challenge and loads of fun!  I just started chip carving in March of this year so I too am still learning the ropes.  Marty’s courses and videos are fantastic to study!! I have to refer to them almost every time I start a project.  Enjoy carving and welcome to our MyChipCarving friends!!!
