I was invited to participate in an art show several years ago which really pushed me to be creative. I did a carving very similar to this one. I ended up selling the initial carving, but I wanted to do another one. So, I ended up with this…it’s not on my mom’s wall. Basswood with gel stain. The process was to draw the outline, remove the bulk of the waste with a router, clean up with chisel and gouges, draw the pattern into the recess, and then carve. It’s quite a long process!
