Has anyone used a water based top coat such as High Performance from General Finishes? I have tried it, and am impressed.

Tell us more. Why do you like it. What does it offer?

I just started using it as well and love it. I get a beautiful finish right of the gun! No more hand rubbing lacquer!

As with lacquer, water based can be brushed or sprayed. However, water based has very low VOC’s so it can be used with less worry about ventilation. Clean up is easy too. A little light sanding (400 grit) between coats.

It seems to be clearer than shellac or lacquer,

Thanks for the additional info; it is helpful.
