These are two 16″ rim plates I carved this summer. The first one has the paisley border Marty taught in a recent webinar. (Thanks Marty!) I finished it with General Finishes Arm-R-Seal with a light gel stain added as a toner.
The second plate has a Native American prayer blessing. I tried to convey the idea of blowing wind in the rosette. To create the border I used a punch to add texture, applied a light gel stain, then carved through the stain. The finish is Arm-R-Seal with no stain added.
The letters on both plates are painted with acrylic paint.
Thanks Marty! The font in the first plate is Lindisfarne. The second plate’s font is Cal Roman Modern. Both are pretty easy to carve. I got them on myfonts.com
