Order of cuts

Thought you’d like to read my reply to this question:

“Please point me to an article on how you analyze a pattern or project for order of cuts. Probably no perfect answer.”

Generally speaking, follow this when it comes to deciding order of cuts to remove chips.

1. start in the center and work out. This avoids dragging your hand on areas already carved.
2. large chips first. This will avoid chip out with smaller, more delicate chips.
3. when several chips converge in the center: make the cuts from the outside in before the cuts from the inside out.
4. make as many cuts with the grain as possible
