I am a retired consumer science teacher and taught in Massachusetts most of my life. I love working with my hands and have done a lot of needlework. I got started doing carving about 9 years ago at the Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. I loved the feel of wood and a knife in my hand. A little over 4 years ago I moved to Florida and took a 3 day class from Marty on chip carving and I am addicted. I am a member of his project of the month and love the challenges and projects. I give most of my completed projects away. I recently completed 11 tissue boxes and have given them all away except for one which I kept. During my spare time I teach at the local senior center and have taught chip carving to a few people. I can get so involved in carving time flies and I have no other thoughts than making cuts. I love it.
