    hi marty and all…

my name is ron, i live in brown county indiana. nashville,in is a 100 plus year old artist colony . i am retired and when i retired i started making copper trinkets that i sold at a gallery in nashville. after a very bad year of illnesses i left the gallery. i dont have the energy to work in the gallery anymore but i cannot just set… so ive started making knives. ive done some whittleing over the years and recently thought i would give chip carving a try. in the past ive made most of my own carving knives, no chip carving knives. its all about enjoying my retirement. my wife was a mixed media artist but she too has slowed down but neather of us have any plans to give up…thanks to marty for this site..im just getting started so i have a lot of questions..

    Hi Ron,

Welcome!  I am pretty much in the same boat as you and your wife.  I ‘ve been a sculptor of wood, marble and limited edition bronzes since 1974.  But I never tried Chip Carving!!!  It’s quite a challenge and loads of fun!  I just started chip carving in March of this year so I too am still learning the ropes.  Marty’s courses and videos are fantastic to study!! I have to refer to them almost every time I start a project.  Enjoy carving and welcome to our MyChipCarving friends!!!
