I’ve been trying to teach myself chip carving for about 2 months. I have read 3 different books and have done about 15 practice boards. Small, 2 and 3 sided chips go well for me and I’ve done some reasonably nice beginner stuff. I joined here to learn from all of you and Marty, as I’m struggling with wider chips and curves/circles. I’ll go through the “Essentials” course first and then post a few questions in the “Techniques” Forum.

I’m glad to be here and look forward to sharing experience, as I become able to contribute something worthwhile.

Best regards and Happy New Year!

    Fred

    Welcome Fred,

I have been doing for a while now. The hardest part, in my opinion, is being too hard on yourself. Just realize it take practice and patience. Try to learn from your mistakes. Self-evaluate not to criticize yourself, but to understand what went wrong and how to correct it. You will be doing work that makes you smile from ear to ear in no time.

    Good luck

    Welcome Fred!

David’s reply is a good sample of the great advice you’ll get in the My Chip Carving Community.

So many kind, caring and talented folk.

    You’re in good company!

    Marty
