Gouge Chip Carving

This is a technique using just a mallet and a gouge to create some pretty cool results. I learned this several years ago from an older gentleman who had Parkinson’s like shakes so bad…but when the gouge met the wood he was rock steady. Anyway, one of my next goals is to attempt to blend this style with the methods Marty teaches to hopefully create some new, interesting designs. The picture is of several trivets I made for family Christmas gifts.
