I’m fairly new to chip carving. I am going to attempt carving an 8” x 8” box lid.  I glued two of Marty’s 6” x 12” basswood boards together and then cut it to 8” x 8”.  Will the glue line present any problem when carving?

Almost all items 8″ or larger are glued to get the width. Plates in the store have glue lines as do some of the boxes.

You won’t have any trouble carving through the glue lines. But…

pay close attention to your cut when crossing glue lines as one board may be harder or softer than the one you just exited 🙂

I’ll be looking for others to reply as well!

    Happy carving!
