” what am I doing wrong with the gel stain. I want to put it on the plate but do not like my outcome. Do others have this same problem?”
My reply:
How nice to see your recent knot carving. It’s a challenging pattern so cut yourself some slack 🙂
First, gel stain will accentuate any chatter marks and oops cuts.
When I look at your stain, it needs another coat (or two) to even out the color. Adding more gel stain on the white spots will make it look a lot better.
Take your time and don’t over-brush and pull out the stain.
