Hi everyone, My name is Chris, I live in a little village on the edge of Robin hood country, Sherwood forest. Nottingham.

I have been carving small figures for a while although I have no background in woodwork really, I used to drive articulated Lorries for a living (semi) in the US. I became disabled due to arthritis in my spine and had to give up working.

My wife and I are very craft orientated people so learning to chip carve properly is possibly a way to a new career although at the moment it’s a hobby. looking forward to meeting you all and having a progressive time.

A BIG welcome to the MyChipCarving Community, Chris. You’ve come to the right place to learn and meet a lot of friendly, talented chip carvers.

    Hello Chris,

Welcome to the group.  I’ve just been part of it a couple weeks myself.  I’m in Oklahoma, USA.  I have a daughter & family in Cheltenham.  My wife & I had a trip to the UK scheduled just as the travel bans kicked in but we hope to make it later this year.

I’ve done a little bit of carving, mainly whimsies, for over 10 years but this is the first chip carving I’ve done.  I’m enjoying it.  I’m sure you will too.  Marty has a very good teaching method.

P.S. I’m not yet on the community section.  Plan on doing that soon.
