Hi. I’ve been carving off and for several years. I’ve carved “Egg Heads”, Celtic Spoons, low relief, cypress wood (which I found that I didn’t care for), animals from cutouts, a duck attached to a golf club, I enjoy carving items that are intertwined in design that give the illusion of weaving, and gnomes and forest men. I’ve been interested in chip carving, so I am going to get started though Marty. My first project was a walking stick. I haven’t completed it because I want to get more carving techniques under my belt. I’ve a subscription to Woodcarving Illustrated. Also, I have subscribed to the Carving Magazine which I believe is no longer available. I did attend a carving class, but I branched out on my own and the instructor doesn’t seem to have time to give me assistance when I ask him. He has experienced some health issues. He’s probably lead this class for 30 years or more.
