I made three of these stars over the last couple of weeks as keepsake ornaments for two new born great-nieces and a great-nephew born a few years ago. Each ornament has the child’s initials and year of birth carved in the back.
The carving was sealed and a red gel stain added to give it an even more festive look on the Christmas tree for the kids. The ornaments were finished off with two light coats of matte finish polyurethane before adding the leather lace for hanging the ornament up.
This was a fun little project and I hope the kids will enjoy these ornaments for many years to come.
