Welcome aboard! I am very new at chip carving. In fact my first attempt was without this website and it was not a very good experience.
I have since made some progress after joining this group. I would recommend watching as many of the videos as you can even if you’re not working on the particular project. Also, I have watched the videos for the 2 courses Marty mentioned a few times over. The more time I practice the better and more consistent my chips have become. I also spend a lot of time evaluating what I am doing and how I am doing it as I make each cut.
Learning how to correct or clean up the chips that don’t come out right the first time is helpful to me as well as just watching others work. Marty and others I have watched make it look easier than it is for me at the moment but I am enjoying the process. I hope you do as well!
